February 21, 2008

Yesterday we went to a wedding reception.  It was sort-of strange for us because the guy that got married works with John, but they aren't really good friends, just the occasional "Hi!" in passing, etc.  So, we were invited to the reception and ring ceremony.  It was a sit-down dinner reception.  We went and enjoyed our meal, sat by a few co-workers and then left.  It was a nice, free date if nothing else!  Steph was awesome to come over and babysit.  Apparently Oliver played great the whole evening and Lincoln cried a good portion of the evening.  He certainly is a Mama's boy (which I kind of like)!

Today John didn't work because he was awake all night therefore extremely tired at 6:00 this morning.  He slept until 9:00 and then helped me give the boys a bath.  Then while Lincoln napped I took Oliver to the store for some craft items for my next craft projects.  Then we went to Cary Wall's house for playgroup.  The kids played while the moms all discussed the school system, the pros and cons of preschool, etc.  I contributed a lot to the conversation because I know a lot about schools, etc.  It was fun!  The rest of the day we have spent as a family shopping for John's new basketball shorts (Mark doesn't like going to the gym with the homeless guy when John wears his paint-covered, mis-matched clothes--and for good reason).  We ate lunch at Blimpie and even got Oliver to eat his sandwich with meat!  We came home and decided to go across the street to check out the new fireplace.  I can't believe how beautiful it has turned out.  It is so nice and elegant and a perfect match for their style!  I really love it and am impressed with Brent's work.

Here are a few of my favorite phrases from Oliver:  "Guess what?  Blahbarama..."  "Hold on tight!  It's gonna be a bumpy ride!"  I said to him this morning, "You guys are so cute!"  He responded with, "Then take a picture!"  "I'm so happy"  "Nice catch!"  I said to him the other day, "Can I see your bird?"  His response, "It's not a bird it's a egret!"  And it was!  He also says funny adult-like things, "Uh huh."  "Umm..." (said while thinking).  "Woops!"  "Oh my goodness!"  "Oh brother!"  Can you tell a few of those are my phrases that he's heard a lot!  It's just so funny to hear these things coming out of a little kid.  Today I was trying to teach him to say that he is 2 when people ask him how old his is (he's asked all the time).  After trying to teach him for a couple minutes I asked him if he was 2.  He replies, "No.  I'm a boy!"
